“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
We are a husband and wife team who have worked in education together for the last 15 years. We started in Poland and Sweden in 2000, and then later moved to the Netherlands. We have worked at tertiary-level education institutes in Europe and the Middle East. We have experience of teaching English as a Second or Foreign language, teaching linguistics and literature courses, and doing applied linguistics research. TextWorkshop combines our experience in developing ESL materials, working with academic texts, and helping others become better writers.
I have taught English since 2000 in Poland, Sweden, and the UAE. I have used my teaching experience in different parts of the world to inform the content of my course books. So far, I have published three books in the Cambridge University Press Unlock series and I have edited Teacher's Books in other book series for the same publishing house.
I'm currently working on several projects for adult learners of English, which involve the development of online activities and tests. I'm also finishing my doctoral thesis on 'learner autonomy'.
Over the last 15 years, I have taught at the tertiary-level in Sweden, Poland, and lately, in the UAE. I hold a PhD in Linguistics. I have supervised many BA and MA theses during the course of my career and thereby helped many students express themselves in English. I have extensive experience in translating Swedish academic texts into English, and I have proofread many PhD theses (on behalf of several Swedish university departments) and academic texts which have subsequently been published in peer-reviewed academic journals.
